Casting for fish!

These large steel cast rings are components in fish farm moorings. They were developed in Scotland for the salmon farming industry to help make mooring systems more secure and reduce mooring failures. The rings are made from cast iron which enables the use of thicker sections and greater breaking loads. These rings have been tested to destruction and resisted over 500 tonnes of traction before breaking. They are then galvanized to provide corrosion protection in the tough ocean environment.
